New Orleans

We are on the move quite early. For our destination some isolated thunderstorms are forecasted. Nevertheless, the CBs here in the USA are not comparable to those in the tropics. They are smaller and, hence, rather easy to avoid.

Soon after landing we already get a first feeling for the special atmosphere in „The Big of easy“. Our question for aircraft parking is responded by a: „I'll send someone out, baby!“  During the next days we somehow all become "Babyboys" and "Sweathearts".

Even five years after the terrible hurricane Katrina the effects are still visible. Many houses in the suburbs probably will remain abandoned - others are restored or re-built.

The Old Town with Jackson Square and French Quarter has experienced less damage. Café Du Monde still serves its´ traditional coffee and beignets with so much powdered sugar that not only chairs, tables and floor are specked and viscous. Also the appearance of the guests delivers many reasons to smile. A picture of us ourselves will not be disclosed.

We find Jazz, Dixie and Blues in the Frenchmen Street offsite of the overcrowded Bourbon Street.
