Back on schedule again … after only one and a half hours of flight time and with only one-day delay we arrive in Muscat International /Oman. Surprisingly, the taxi fare is paid here at a counter in advance. The only idea now: get to the hotel and then start the Muscat discovery tour at night. Things are different again: Traffic jam, creaky tires and a car on two wheels that crashes our taxi like in a Hollywood movie. The cars are wrecked but luckily, we personally remained without any damage. „It is only due to the fact that people learn here in the driving school to drive up very close, in order to limit the damage in case of a collision” our Austrian guide explains … well, good to know. Oman is rich of well restored historic monuments. Muscat with sultan's palace and big mosque in which unbelievable 20000 people may take place. But also fort Nizwa impressed us very much. In Oman one can stroll thru a Souk (bazaar) without being pressed by all sides to buy something. The friendliness of his people stands in deep contrast to the roughness of Oman’s mountain landscapes with all different colors– with rocks stacked up to 3000 meters.
